How to transfer your design the easy way

How to transfer your design the easy way

by Joanne

So, you've got this amazing digital hand embroidery design that you're just itching to transfer onto your cotton embroidery fabric. But how do you do it without losing your mind in the process? Don't worry, we have the easiest steps that involve nothing more than your trusty window!

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies ♥

First things first, gather your supplies like a squirrel hoarding nuts for winter. You'll need your printed digital hand embroidery design, cotton embroidery fabric, a window with natural light (or a lightbox if you're feeling fancy), and some tape to secure your design in place.

Step 2: Let There Be Light ♥

Find a nice, sunny spot by the window (or a well-lit room if the sun is playing hide-and-seek) and tape your printed design to the window. Make sure it's secure!

Window not bright enough? You could even open the file on your phone or iPad and trace it directly from the screen at max brightness!

Step 3: Trace Away ♥

Place your cotton embroidery fabric over the design, making sure it's nice and flat like a pancake. Now, let the natural light shine through the window, illuminating your design like a beacon of hope. Trace the artwork onto your fabric with a pencil or water-soluble fabric marker, following the lines as best you can.

Step 4: Double Check and Voilà! ♥

Once you've traced the entire design, double check to make sure you didn't miss any details. Remove the fabric from the window and admire your handywork. You've successfully transferred your digital hand embroidery design onto your cotton fabric using nothing but the power of natural light!

And there you have it, a super easy and fun way to transfer your embroidery designs using your window as a makeshift lightbox. So go forth, embrace your inner embroidery artist, and let your creativity shine as bright as the sun!
